Mayfield today announced that Adit Singh, a proven inception and early-stage investor with hands-on company-building experience, has joined the firm as a partner. Adit will focus on backing technical founders across AI hardware and software infrastructure, cybersecurity, and physical AI.
Artificial intelligence is reimagining every industry, but many of the foundational technologies required to power this transformation are still being built. Mayfield believes the defining AI companies of the next decade will be created by technical founders solving these fundamental infrastructure challenges.
Mayfield has backed these underlying systems across multiple computing cycles. Within its $3 billion AI investment strategy, the firm is increasing its focus on infrastructure and expanding its capacity to partner with technical founders beginning at the inception stage. Its track record includes NUVIA, acquired by Qualcomm, and AI infrastructure unicorns Lumilens, SambaNova Systems, Frore Systems, and Upscale AI.
With 70% of its investments beginning at inception, Mayfield is most often the first institutional investor partnering with a founding team. The firm partners with entrepreneurs well beyond the first check, providing company-building expertise and follow-on capital as they scale category-defining businesses.
Adit’s addition builds on a 15-year relationship with Mayfield’s Managing Partner Navin Chaddha. The two have worked together across three companies, giving Mayfield a firsthand view of Adit’s trajectory and how he supports founders through the difficult moments of company building.
“I have been as impressed by who Adit is as a person as I have been by what he has accomplished as an investor,” said Navin Chaddha, Mayfield Managing Partner. “He has proven his judgment at the inception stage of investing, brings deep technical and operating experience, and shares the culture Mayfield has built around putting people first. He will be a force multiplier for our team as we expand our work with founders building the next generation of AI infrastructure.”
Before Mayfield, Adit spent more than a decade as an early-stage investor, most recently as a General Partner at Cota Capital. He previously co-founded Neotribe Ventures and served as a partner at Foundation Capital.
Across his investing career, Adit has been involved with four companies that went public and four that were acquired, including Cerebras (NASDAQ: CBRS) and Seraphic, which was acquired by CrowdStrike.
Adit also brings extensive operating experience. He co-founded networking startup Bitsplay Systems and served as the first product manager at Enphase Energy (NASDAQ: ENPH), joining before its IPO and helping scale the business. Prior to that, he held technical leadership roles at Cisco.
“The path to building an iconic company is rarely linear. It takes steady partners who will stand with founders through the hardest moments, and I love being that non-judgmental safety net when they need it most,” said Adit Singh, partner at Mayfield. “Having known Navin and Mayfield for 15 years, I’ve seen that founder-first conviction in practice. The next wave of AI infrastructure will require real capital, deep technical understanding and long-term conviction from day one. I’m excited to join the firm and back the people building that future.”
