Leonardo US Cyber & Security Solutions today announced the evolution of its electronic signature detection technology, introducing SignalTrace™ as the new name for the solution formerly known as EOC Plus.
More than a product rebrand, SignalTrace reflects years of product refinement and a clearer expression of the technology’s purpose: recognizing and correlating electronic signatures from publicly broadcast wireless signals to reveal patterns, relationships, and trends that may otherwise remain undetected. As organizations seek new ways to improve situational awareness and operational decision-making, SignalTrace transforms common public domain electronic emissions into meaningful, actionable insights.
“SignalTrace is more than a new name. It’s a reflection of how the technology has evolved,” said Dr. Andrew Rogers, CEO of Leonardo US Cyber & Security Solutions. “As we’ve continued to refine the product and expand its capabilities, it became clear that the new name better communicates what the technology actually does. SignalTrace recognizes recurring electronic signatures and helps organizations uncover meaningful relationships that support better operational awareness and more informed decisions.”
SignalTrace is a purpose-built sensing technology that passively detects publicly broadcast electronic emissions including Bluetooth®, Wi-Fi, RFID, and other supported wireless signals to create anonymous electronic signatures that can be analyzed over time. Rather than identifying individuals or accessing personal devices, SignalTrace recognizes recurring electronic signatures and their observed locations, providing organizations with a new source of environmental awareness that can be analyzed independently or correlated with other operational data.
One example is its use alongside Automatic License Plate Recognition (LPR) systems. When deployed together, SignalTrace can correlate recurring electronic signatures with vehicle observations, providing investigators with additional context that may help identify recurring associations, recognize when electronic signatures appear with different vehicles, or support investigations involving altered or fraudulent license plates. Because SignalTrace operates independently of LPR, it can also be deployed as a standalone sensing technology or integrated with other sensor systems across a variety of operational environments.
SignalTrace is designed to support a broad range of operational objectives, including transportation and mobility analytics, security and situational awareness, critical infrastructure monitoring, operational intelligence, multi-sensor data correlation, research, and public safety. Its flexibility enables organizations to integrate SignalTrace into existing workflows and analytical platforms based on their unique mission requirements.
SignalTrace observes only electronic signals already being broadcast in the public domain. It does not identify individuals, access communications, or retrieve information stored on personal devices. Instead, it provides an additional layer of observational data that can complement other existing technologies and support informed decision-making within established legal, operational, and governance frameworks.
“The ability to understand relationships between electronic signals opens new possibilities across a wide range of industries,” Rogers added. “SignalTrace represents our continued commitment to developing advanced sensing technologies that help customers transform complex data into actionable insight.”
