Significant Other Kitchen & Cocktails Comes Into View With October 2026 Opening on Sunset Road

Installation of the restaurant’s prominent exterior sign marks a major milestone for the all-day dining destination across from Harry Reid International Airport

LAS VEGAS, NV, UNITED STATES, August 12, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Significant Other Kitchen & Cocktails, a new all-day neighborhood restaurant created by longtime Las Vegans Mike and Kristi Austin in collaboration with restaurateur Matthew Silverman and Chef Matthew Piekarski, will officially open in October 2026 on Sunset Road, directly across from Harry Reid International Airport.

The restaurant reached a highly visible construction milestone with the installation of its large exterior sign. The Significant Other name can now be seen by drivers traveling along Sunset Road, while planes take off and land just across the street on Harry Reid International Airport’s parallel east-west runways, 8L/26R and 8R/26L.

For a restaurant built around meaningful relationships, the arrival of the sign signals that Significant Other is officially becoming part of the Las Vegas landscape.

“Seeing the Significant Other sign go up makes the opening feel real,” said Mike Austin. “We have spent years helping build some incredible restaurants throughout Las Vegas, but this project is deeply personal. It began with Kristi and grew into a restaurant we hope becomes part of people’s everyday lives, from morning coffee and business lunches to date nights, family dinners and special celebrations.”

The story of Significant Other began when Mike and Kristi Austin set out to build a new headquarters for Austin General Contracting across from the airport. After years of constructing many of the city’s notable restaurants, Mike decided it was time to create one of his own, inspired by Kristi’s love of family, hospitality and bringing people together.

Mike then reached out to restaurateur Matthew Silverman, with whom he had worked on several Las Vegas projects, including Alexxa’s, Beer Park and Big Chicken. Silverman, one of the original creators of Vintner Grill, immediately recognized the opportunity to create another distinctive off-Strip dining experience designed for Las Vegas locals.

Silverman brought Chef Matthew Piekarski into the project. With experience at some of the finest restaurants on the Strip, Piekarski joined Mike, Kristi and Silverman in developing the kind of restaurant locals could enjoy throughout the day and return to time and again.

The vision became Significant Other, a name and brand developed by Las Vegas brand architect Jason Goldwater. The name is a nod to the partnership that inspired the restaurant, but it also represents what the best neighborhood restaurants become in their guests’ lives: familiar, dependable and always there when needed.

Significant Other will move with the rhythm of the day, evolving from an inviting morning destination into a lively lunch setting and elevated dinner experience.

Mornings will begin at the coffee counter with espresso, freshly baked pastries and breakfast selections in a space designed for meetings, laptops and casual conversations. Lunch will feature fresh salads, handmade pastas, nori rolls, sourdough pizzas and an all-day signature burger served with fries cooked in beef tallow.

As evening arrives, the lighting and atmosphere will shift for dinner service. The menu will highlight seasonal ingredients, prime rib roasts, wet-aged steaks, handmade pastas, thoughtful vegetable dishes and select seafood. A curated wine and cocktail program will feature fresh juices and seasonal ingredients.

Rather than chasing trends, the culinary approach will focus on preparing the food people crave with care, consistency and high-quality ingredients.

Designed by New York-based Celano Design Studio Co. and built by Austin General Contractors, the restaurant will follow that same progression throughout the day. Significant Other will include a lush, pet-friendly patio overlooking the airport activity across the street, offering guests a welcoming place to dine alongside their four-legged companions. The restaurant will also feature a spacious private dining room for celebrations and corporate gatherings and an intimate wine room for smaller occasions.

From coffee meetings and casual lunches to date nights, dinners and milestone celebrations, Significant Other is being created as the kind of restaurant guests can return to again and again.
